Velluto is Italian for velvet, and that's the surface: soft to the eye, mineral to the touch, one uninterrupted plane from wall to wall. Every coat goes on by trowel, by hand, in your home.
A Velluto surface is built in layers: a bonding primer matched to the substrate, two hand-troweled coats of microcement, then a sealer chosen for the room's use — matte for a living room floor, wet-rated for a shower. Because every pass of the trowel leaves its own faint movement, no two Velluto installations read exactly alike. That variation is the point.
Velluto is the answer for the surfaces you touch and look at up close — baths, walls, counters, the rooms where finish depth matters most. For large open floor fields where uniformity and schedule lead, we install Aria, our sprayed microcement floor system. Most whole-home projects use both; the consultation sorts out which goes where.
Each coat is worked by hand, so the finished surface carries subtle trowel movement — a depth machine application can't reproduce. It's the difference between a bespoke finish and a factory one.
Velluto is tinted to order, from warm whites and creams through stone greys and deep charcoals. Texture runs from near-polished smooth to a more mineral, matte hand. You approve a physical sample before we schedule anything.
Yes. Dated tile — floors, shower walls, backsplashes — is one of the most common Velluto substrates. The tile stays, the grout lines vanish, and the demolition never happens.
Sealed correctly, Velluto handles daily family life — foot traffic, kitchens, baths. We match the sealer to how each room is used and review care at handoff.
